KANATA- A leaked internal document obtained by the Globe and Mail this week has exposed a very disruptive climate change plan being discussed by Kathleen Wynne’s Cabinet and the Ontario Government behind closed doors.
According to the article, the 57 page Climate Change Action Plan, stamped ‘Cabinet Confidential’, lays out a strategy from 2017 to 2021, which contains about 80 different policies, grouped into 32 different “actions.” Each action has a price tag attached to it, as well as an estimate of the amount of emissions it will cut by 2020.
If implemented, this plan will cause great disruption to the remaining economic engines that power Ontario – particularly in the energy and automotive industries.
“I am very concerned about the effect this climate plan will have on the well being of my constituents”, said Jack MacLaren, Member of Provincial Parliament for Carleton-Mississippi Mills. “This plan would implement significant changes in everyone’s lives, and would lower our quality of life because of the increased costs. Ontarians will be worse off and nobody seems to get a say in this important matter”, he finished.
